Özet

This investigation was effectuated to evaluate the antioxidant status in IM hernia, reperfusion period. Using two different; penumbral (mild) and severe ischemia-reperfusion models, performed on 84 Sprague Dawley rat brains, change- in superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) and catalane (CAT) activities were assessed in the rat brain tissues, for the two isdinniii types by spectrophotometric methods. Superoxide dismutase activities \u>rt' found to be decreased significantly in both penumbral and severe ischemiarcperfusion groups compared to the sham group (p<0.05), while glutathione [KToxidase activities werp decreased in all groups of both types of ischemia, but 0. min. reperfusion group of penumbral type (p<0.01). Penumbral ischemiarnperfusion caused significant increase in catalase activities (p<0.01). The first reperfusion group of severe ischemia showed statistically significant decreased ciitaitts'' activities (p<0.05), while no significant differences were found between sham and the other reperfusion groups subjected to severe ischemia. We can (onclude that, in penumbral and severe brain ischemia-reperfusion most of the antioxidanl enzyme activities are decreased significantly, causing the tissue more vulnerable to free radical induced injuries.
