Application of the informational entropy principle in assessing the technical (temporal, spatial, and combined temporal/spatial) features of an existing hydrometric network provides satisfactory results as the benefits of alternative monitoring practices can be evaluated quantitatively as a function of information. The study presented develops an entropy-based methodology in evaluating combined space/time frequencies of water quality sampling networks and demonstrates its application on a case study.
