Özet
The aim of this study is to bring to light approacites and roles of instructional leadership of elementary school principals. In this context, approaches and roles of instructional leadership of elementary school principals is investigated through their own perspectives. The study was conducted on the principals who work in the elemantary schools in Buca district in İzmir provision in 2002-2003 school year. In this study, the semi-structured interview which is one of the qualitative research tecniques was used. The semi-structured interview protocol, which was prepared by Terasa A Newbold (1999, 51) with the method of reviewing the effective school research, was translated into Turkish and used as a means of collecting the data. In analysing the data, the approaches of Miles ve Huberman (1904, 10); Strauss ve Corbin (1998) and Wolcott (1994) were combined and used. In this study, it has been concluded that the elementary school principals are trying to deal with the prerequisites of the instructional leadership much more.
