Abstract

Energy generation for nutrition occurs in stepwise increments. Photosynthesis by plants by utilizing solar energy is generally the first increment. Nutrients, while going through cytoplasm and mitochondria generate ATP. Conversion of ATP to ADP releases the energy needed for the cellular activities. ATP to ADP conversion occurs in a loop wise manner. Recently nutrition has started to be used as a therapeutic agent to treat the diseases such as type two diabetes. To achieve this purpose, it is important that the diet lists should be prepared by well-educated dietitians. In this chapter, recent advances in nutrition have been explained by citing refereed publications.
