Özet

The term “pink tax” in the literature refers to the additional cost paid for products marketed to women that are otherwise equivalent to those offered to men. This phenomenon not only exacerbates gender inequality but also amplifies economic disparities. Consumers often lack sufficient awareness regarding the pink tax. In this context, this study aims to identify the scope of the pink tax in Türkiye, raise awareness, and propose solutions to address gender inequality. The study first examines the impact of the pink tax through a document analysis conducted on e-commerce websites in Türkiye. Subsequently, the influence of gendered packaging designs on purchasing preferences and perceptions of the pink tax is analysed. Based on the findings, recommendations are provided to enhance public awareness of the pink tax.
