Abstract

The natural anticoagulant protein, activated protein C, is neuroprotective and vascular protective, however, the precise mechanisms of its beneficial effect against neurovascular injury are not entirely known. Activated protein C may modulate antioxidant defense system at the transcriptional level. © 2009 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
