This paper is on the current situation on the Black Sea coast of Turkey with regard to the management of solid waste. This area of the country, which has the greatest concentration of industrial and commercial enterprises, tourism as well as a large and growing population generates a large and increasing amount of solid waste. Unfortunately, the exiting methods, practices and facilities for the safe and proper disposal of the waste are at present grossly inadequate.
