In this chapter, we present the trajectory of a novice language teacher’s agency development through her research engagement in several ways and seek to answer the following research question: “What role(s) does research engagement play in the agency development of a novice English language teacher?”. We believe this study will contribute to language teacher education and professional development programs and highlight how research engagement fosters agency of novice teachers since it (a) extends existing theories of teacher agency and shows how it can be cultivated from the early stages of a teaching career and (b) offer insights into developing an agency framework that emphasises critical reflection and contextualised practical research experiences of novice teachers.
