This case is designed to familiarize students with visitor management schemes at attractions and help them practice estimating the daily visitor capacities of an attraction, where visitors are only allowed on guided group tours. The case attempts to deal with a variety of topics related to visitor management in attractions, namely; the role of tour guides in managing visitors, the planning and design of visitor routes, the methods of experience enrichment showcasing the original purpose of those sites converted to serve as attractions, the management of on-site visitor flows and the estimation of visitor numbers based on visitation characteristics and capacity restrictions. The case can be used as an interactive in-class activity following a theoretical course on visitor management schemes and the carrying capacity of attractions. The case is suitable for all levels of higher education programs as well as vocational training targeting those at the beginning of their career in the attraction sector.
