Özet

By the technological developments, the usage of glass in architectural area becomes widespread. These developments effects on building and space design. So glass plays an effective role in building and space design. But generally, its usage for prestige buildings or publical buildings as shopping centers, museum,conference centers, airports is prefered. In addition this, glass is used in the houses as structural or non-structural. The application of glass in the houses, as wide surfaces, provides natural lighting, passive heating, aesthetics appearance and the most important of this is the visual relation between inner and outer spaces. A glasshouse doesn't interrupt the continuity of nature. On the contrary, transparency brings the sense of a continuation between architecture and nature. Glass protects people from negative effects of the nature but doesn't damage relation between people and nature. These papers contain searching the effects of glass on house building and space design form past to present and the glass usages as a design element in houses by different samples.
