ABSTRACT
This
research aims to evaluate the contribution of researchers from Türkiye to the
global literature through bibliometric analyses via the Web of Science(WoS) database
and to discuss the general status of the field. In this context, it is aimed to
present current discussions by making a general evaluation of the works
produced and the fields studied in the field of music in Türkiye. The relevant
data was filtered from 419498 documents via the WoS Core Collection on
01/10/2024. The studies conducted in the field of music are in Türkiye, with
192 studies, followed by Mexico (f:215), South Korea (f:204), and Serbia (f:195)
in the world, respectively. In this ranking, Türkiye, which ranks 43rd, was
seen to have 1781 academic staff addressed in the fine arts main field and
music sub-research field in the YÖK Academic data source, corresponding to 0.11
WoS documents per person. 192 studies were published in 67 different sources,
the average citations per doc value of the documents was 3.58, and the annual
growth rate was 5.24%. The relevant documents were produced with the
contribution of 309 researchers from 176 universities from 23 different
countries. The fields with which relevant research is most frequently
associated, other than music research, are education & instruction research
(f:35), experimental psychology (f:21), and medicine (f:17). The research words
most frequently used by researchers in their works are music education,
Türkiye, maqam music, personality, Turkish music, anxiety, access to music
information, stress, depression, gender, guitar, maqam, music, music analysis,
music perception, music performance anxiety, pre-service music teachers,
rhythm. In line with the findings obtained, it was observed that academic
productivity in the field of music in Türkiye was relatively low in the skies
scanned in the relevant indexes. However, the data also suggests a promising
potential for increased international collaboration in music and art, which
could significantly enhance the global impact of Turkish research.
