Özet

This study has been carried out to determine the effect of pressure on the fatigue life of small buttwelded specimens. A large number of as-welded specimens have been extracted from 15 mm thick pipeline steel StE 445.7TM (X65) welded with V-preparation by MIG/MAG welding process under atmospheric (1bar), 15 bar and 27 bar hyperbaric pressures in flat position. The fatigue tests have been performed in air with constant amplitude keeping the value of R ratio constant at 0,1. The results of the specimens are presented in S-N diagrams. The bi-linear S-N curve fitting method based on a statistical approach is used to describe the data sets. The S-N data for each pressure level is statically compared to find the possible effect of pressure on fatigue data. A comparison of the results indicates that the fatigue life of the hyperbaric weld joints does not deteriorate with increasing pressure. Comparison of the S-N curves shows that the fatigue data of the 15 bar and 27 bar hyperbaric weld specimens fall in the same scatter band of data as those for atmospheric weld specimens do.
