Özet

Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a malign tumor that is usual in brain. The present case report (male, 66 years old) describes volumetrical analysis on CT of the case with GBM  and comparing stereological evaluation on preoperative and postoperative BT sections. The brain,  the mass and heamatoma volumes were also measured by two researchers interobserverly on the BT sections, bilaterally. A uniform point-grid with a point-associated area of 0.125 cm2 was randomly superimposed on each CT slice. The mass was located on left side of the frontal lobe. To evaluate the volumetric determination of the mass which, points hitting of the area were manually counted in the lesion side. Volume evaluation was accomplished by the Cavalier principle. The prodeure were repeated for the other structures. The data were recorded and calculated as comparing. Under light of recent developments on radiological and surgical techniques,  the stereologic method provides to estimate of quantitative volumetrical data via the Cavalier principle for biological structures as simple, easy, fast, and accurate results.
