12th Global Conference on Global Warming (GCGW 2024), Şanlıurfa, Türkiye, 16 - 19 Mayıs 2024, ss.451-454, (Tam Metin Bildiri)
The maritime sector should fulfill its share in the issue of greenhouse gases, which is one of the biggest and most
serious problems of today. In this context, as a result of research on alternative fuels, one of the most
environmentally friendly ways is the use of hydrogen. One of the methods of obtaining hydrogen is the reaction
of methane gas with pressurized steam. This study aims to obtain hydrogen without spending extra fuel by adding
this system to the exhaust systems of ships whose main engine burns fuel to move. For the analyses of the
system mentioned in this study, 3D solid modeling was performed, and heat transfer and hydrogen production
analyses were accomplished with CFD software. Satisfactory values were obtained as a result of the analyses.
