This chapter introduces primary driver of blood; heart and circulatory system. It starts with presenting biomechanics of cardiovascular system and compares them with the pathological conditions. The chapter explains biomechanics of the heart as a pump, blood flow in arteries and veins, and lungs. It provides an insight in study of the complex biomechanical control mechanisms of the cardiovascular system and possible pathways of interaction between the cardiovascular and respiratory control systems.
