Abstract

The present paper describes how it is possible to reduce stress concentrations and, consequently, to increase the fatigue life of supporting rollers and their shafts by means of a special ring design. For this purpose, stress generated during operation is simulated using the finite-element method. Stress analyses are performed, in particular for the central and lateral loads. The simulations show that special rings essentially reduce stress concentrations. Using appropriate rings can minimize production and equipment losses in cement plants, caused by damages on the supporting systems.
