An adaptation of the concept of
sustainability to the educational environment and the dissemination of lifelong
learning models are of significance considering the ever-changing
socio-economic balances and requirements. Furthermore, the importance and
necessity of sustainability of education are flourishing as it serves the
United Nations' sustainable development goals such as Quality Education,
Reduced Inequalities, Decent Work and Economic Growth. Within the scope of this
study, the concept of sustainable education is planned to examine according to
the science mapping approach and support with bibliometric analysis in order to
determine numerically the relations between the publications related to the
concept of sustainability of education in the last ten years. It is aimed to
establish a conceptual model in the direction of creating a sustainable
environment in education in light of the findings obtained by determining the
factors and phenomena that are concentrated within the framework of the concept
of sustainable education. It is envisaged that the outputs of this study will
be a guide for the creation and development of a sustainable education
approach, creating knowledge-based industries, and disseminating concepts such
as innovation and creativity in education.
