In this work a new random number generator circuit using continuous-time chaos is described. The circuit is based on the classical dual oscillator sampling technique. In the classical approaches, the jittered oscillations used in this technique are obtained using a physical noise. In this work, we propose to use continuous-time chaos to generate these oscillations. The required chaotic signal is obtained from the jerk circuit which can very easily be realized The proposed circuit is realized in the laboratory with discrete components and bit sequence is generated from the realized circuit. The level of the randomness of the obtained bit sequence is tested by NIST-800-22. The results of the test confirmed that the generated bit sequences do not show any nonrandom behavior.
