Abstract

The studies on the Lycian epigraphy and language have also made their part of progress among the important developments made during the 20-year-old Tlos excavations. In the corpus of Lycian inscriptions published in 1901 by Kalinka, the number of the texts found in Tlos and edited was nine. No Lycian inscriptions were published from Tlos for over 100 years. Thanks to the start of the Tlos excavations, a total of 15 new inscriptions has been unearthed during excavations and surface surveys, each of which has made unique contributions to the corpus of Lycian inscriptions. 6 new inscriptions that have not yet been published, will be discussed within the scope of this study. These 6 new inscriptions discussed within the scope of this study offer the opportunity for original evaluation due to both their content and their contributions to Anatolian onomastics. These have been analyzed one by one. In addition, subheadings have been created that address the contributions of the Lycian inscriptions found in the ancient city of Tlos to historical, religious and cultural fields. Thus, the contributions of the Lycian inscriptions from Tlos to both the Lycian language studies and the historical and religious fields were evaluated in the present study.
