As it is known from the literature, peak particle velocity resulting from the open pit blasts depends on geological field characteristics, charge per delay and the distance values of the blasting points to the point measured of peak particle velocity. Some equations predicting to peak particle velocity have been improved according to the said parameters. In this study, some of peak particle velocity measurements were carried out in the laboratory in order to determine how the distance values of the blasting points to the point measured of peak particle velocity in the said equations should be calculated. As a result of measurements, it is seen that instead of the distance in the equations, horizontal and vertical distance being it’s components should be used.
