8th International Conference on Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions (SAHC), Wroclaw, Polonya, 15 - 17 Ekim 2012, ss.1731-1738
The retrofit is a general term that may consist of a variety of treatments, including: preservation, rehabilitation, restoration and reconstruction. Seismic retrofitting is the integral part of all building retrofit treatments. The earthquakes in Italy (Friuli 1976, Umbria 1979, 1997, Potenza 1980), Montenegro (1979) and Slovenia (Posocje 1976, 1998, 2004) have caused loss of life due to collapse of historical masonry buildings. Since the observations in recent earthquakes indicate the seismic vulnerability of unreinforcecl masonry (URM) buildings, seismic retrofitting of such historical buildings located in high-risk seismic zones is inevitably required. Otherwise historical buildings, which are cultural assets worth preserving, can be lost along with many lives.
