The earthquake that took place on 6.2.2023, in which we lost thousands of people and injured hundreds of thousands of people, affected all of us deeply. As a society, we try to share and wrap each other’s pain with all kinds of solidarity. At such times, we should strive to wrap all kinds of wounds gracefully and to heal them without being traumatized. In order to evaluate the working and living conditions of chest diseases specialists working in the disaster area, on behalf of the Turkish Thoracic Society Central Board of Directors, Nurdan Köktürk, who is currently the President of the Turkish Thoracic Society, and Aslı Görek Dilektaşlı, the General Secretary. Together we visited the provinces of Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Adana, Osmaniye, Gaziantep and Mersin and the districts of these provinces and visited the chest diseases specialists working in the region. We tried to evaluate the working, accommodation and living conditions of physicians by interviewing chest diseases specialists and hospital administrators working in the provinces visited. We observed that the living and working conditions of our colleagues were significantly deteriorated and their moods were adversely affected due to the disaster they experienced, and that the process was carried on to a large extent with an extraordinary awareness of medicine and a great solidarity of physicians.
