PAIN CLINIC, cilt.15, sa.4, ss.369-372, 2003 (SCI-Expanded)
Aim: To investigate the relationship of the pain with sensory, flexibility and functional status in patients with chronic cervical arthrosis. Method: 72 females and 5 males (mean age: 54.19 +/- 8.82 years, range: 22-86) with chronic painful cervical arthrosis were evaluated. Height, weight, smoking habits and dominant arm were recorded. Duration, type, localization, temporal trend during the day, and intensity of pain (visual analogue scale), flexibility and sensory function of the cervical spine were assessed. The Northwick Park Neck Pain Scale was used to evaluate the functional condition. Results: It was found that the mean pain intensity at rest was 4.41, and during activity 7.03 according to VAS. There was no correlation of pain with age, flexibility or sensory changes. Significant positive correlation was found between pain and responses to the Northwick Park Neck Pain Questionnaire.
