Özet

 Preterm labor is labor that starts before 37 weeks.  The most important risk factor is a history of preterm birth.  The change in the cervical examination is important for diagnosis.  Vaginal progesterone therapy can be effective in women with a short cervix.  The cause and risk factors should be investigated meticulously.  Treatment aims to save time for the mother and fetus.  The preparation to be used for treatment should be chosen carefully and its side effects should be carefully monitored.  Nifedipine is the most effective drug for preterm labor.  Women with a history of preterm labor should be carefully informed. Patient records should be kept in detail as it will affect the management of follow-up and treatment during the next pregnancy
