Beneficiation of Iskenderun Region Chromite Ore by Using Shaking Table

Özet

Chromite is a strategic mineral used in metallurgical, chemical and refractory industries and Turkey is among the countries producing chromite ore, chromite concentrate and ferrochromium. Turkey’s high grade chromite (30–48%Cr2O3) ore reserves is about 31 000 000 tons. This research work involves beneficiation of chromite samples taken from Iskenderun/Arsus ore deposit with using shaking table. The study revealed that a Cr2O3 rich concentrate with high recovery values can be obtained by the application of shaking table concentration technique from this ore.

 

In this paper, the results of shaking table upgrading tests of Iskenderun Arsus region chromite ore are presented. Initial sample for the tests was about - 1 mm in size and showed a Cr2O3 content of 35.41 %. A series of tests were performed with shaking table using, 0.5/0.3 mm, 0.3/0.106 mm and -0.106 mm fractions of the material.
