Özet

The general acceptance of vehicle movements at unsignalized intersections is that vehicles in the major stream have absolute priority. However, under real traffic conditions this may not always be possible. Studies show that drivers waiting on the minor road approach can exhibit irregular behaviors when entering the intersection. In this case the drivers on the main road will try to prevent a possible accident by stopping or slowing down. This is referred to as "reverse priority" or "gap forcing " which causes delays in vehicles in the major stream. In the study, the conditions which causes delay to vehicles in the mainstream is investigated by using AIMSUN simulation program and new functions for stop-controlled, yield-controlled and uncontrolled intersections which can be used in calculation major stream delays are suggested.
