Özet

Background: This study aimed to assess the effect of the GluConfi telehealth program on hypoglycemia outcomes in older adults. Methods: A quasi-experimental and qualitative design was used with 128 participants who received the GluConfi program, which included online education, peer support, case management with role play, and four weeks of counselling via text messaging. Hypoglycemia knowledge, management skills, confidence, and frequency were assessed before and four weeks after the intervention. Descriptive statistics and paired samples t-tests were used to analyse the data. Results: After the intervention, there was a significant increase in hypoglycemia management knowledge (pretest: 23.58 f 9.51, post-test: 75.08 f 10.12), skills (pretest: 34.61 f 23.97, post-test: 90.00 f 12.03), and confidence (pretest: 1.50 f 0.49, post-test: 3.59 f 0.26). A decrease in hypoglycemia frequency was observed (pretest: 7.88 f 3.55, post-test: 1.81 f 1.53, p < 0.001). Participants reported regaining motivation and feeling more comfortable managing hypoglycemia. Conclusion: The GluConfi telehealth program was effective in improving hypoglycemia outcomes in older adults, suggesting its applicability in clinical practice. (c) 2025 Elsevier Inc.
