Özet: Bugün sanayileşmenin ve sorumsuzca artan tüketimin sonucu karşı karşıya olduğumuz en
büyük problem yaşadığımız gezegenin bugününün ve yarının tehlikede olmasıdır. Doğaya büyük
oranda atık bırakarak dünyaya geri dönüşü olmayan zararlar veren en büyük sektörlerden biri
tekstil ve hazır giyim sektörüdür. Sanayileşmenin her alanında olduğu gibi denim konfeksiyonunun
da çevreye vermiş olduğu zararlar göz ardı edilemez bir gerçektir. Bu çerçevede gelişen moda
endüstrisinde önem verilen unsurlardan birisi de ‘Sürdürülebilirlik’ kavramıdır. Günümüz denim
modasında son yıllarda kaynakların gelecek nesillere aktarılacağı ilkesi göz önünde bulundurularak
doğru kullanıldığı, sosyal sorumlulukla hareket edilerek doğa ve insan dostu üretimin yapılması
olarak tanımlanabilecek sürdürülebilirlik kavramı doğrultusunda üretim yapılmaktadır. Bu
çalışmada dünyada en çok kullanılan malzemelerden biri olan, üretim ve atık yönetimi aşamasında
çevreye önemli etkisi olan denim konfeksiyonunun sürdürülebilir teknolojilere uygun olarak gelişen
günümüz denim modasının yeri ve önemine değinilecek, denim sektöründeki gelişen ve değişen
eğilimler doğrultusunda çevre dostu tekniklerle üretilen denim koleksiyonları örneklerle aktarılacak,
örnek bir denim tasarım projesine yer verilecektir.

Abstract: As a result of industrialization and irresponsible increasing consumption, one of the
biggest problem we face today is that the present and future of the planet we live in. A sector that
has a heavy hand in the irreversible damage caused to the world by leaving a large amount of
waste to nature is the textile sector. As in all areas of industrialization, the damage caused by the
production of denim apparel to the environment is a fact that cannot be ignored. In this context,
one of the foremost important factors in the developing fashion industry is the concept of
"Sustainability". In today's denim fashion, production is carried out in line with the concept of
sustainability, which can be defined as eco-friendly production with added social responsibility,
taking into account the principle that resources will be transferred to future generations in the
coming decades. In this study, the importance of denim apparel; one of the most widely used
materials in the world that has a significant impact on the environment during the production and
waste management stages, will be emphasized. In addition, the denim collections produced with
environmentally friendly techniques in line with the developing and changing trends in the denim
sector will be explained with examples, and an exemplary denim design project will also be
included.
