Effect of Mental Health Literacy Web-Based Education Initiative on Students' Knowledge Level, Help Seeking, And Stigmatizing Attitudes: A Randomize Controlled Trial

Özet

Poor MHL is an indicator of unmet needs of adolescence. School nurses is critical in promoting mental health of adolescent. The objective was examine the effect of mental health literacy web-based education intervention on knowledge level, help seeking and stigmatization attitudes in adolescents. This is a randomized and controlled clinical trial, with a pretest and a posttest. Participants were 100 students (50 experimental and 50 control group) from a middle school and a high school. The experimental group received web-based mental health literacy education ıntervention, while the control group did not. Intervention describe in this study comprised six module video lesson. Data were collected both groups pretest (t0), 4 week post test (t2) and 8 weeks (t3) after. Repeated measures two way analysis of variance was use in data analyses. Significant changes were observed the outcome measures for the intervention group (p<.05). From the feedback of the students concluded that they were willing to apply the education to their lives, education was successful. MHL education program was effective and school nurses can use this significantly improving adolescent mental health promotion. Study will contribute to the literature in the field of mental health education in adolescents.
