Özet
Portal
cranes used in ports are subject to significant safety risks under severe wind
and storm conditions due to their large surface areas, high centers of gravity,
and exposure to open environments. When out of service, sudden and excessive
wind loads may cause uncontrolled rail movement, derailment, overturning, and
severe loss of life and property. Existing wind safety systems predominantly
employ friction-based braking mechanisms, whose effectiveness may be
compromised by power loss, hydraulic failure, or insufficient braking capacity.
The
primary objective is to develop a hybrid wind safety system incorporating
mechanical locking and hydraulic actuation for 50-ton-class portal cranes. The
proposed system integrates a mechanical locking mechanism that restrains crane
movement along the rail with a hydraulic mechanism for lock disengagement
during normal operation. Thus, the system is designed to maintain a safe locked
position under abnormal conditions, including hydraulic or power failure.
Wind
forces, braking forces, and overturning moments will be determined under
various wind speeds and loading conditions in accordance with FEM 1.001 and ISO
4302 standards. The system will be modeled using SolidWorks and structurally
analyzed in ANSYS to evaluate stress, deformation, and strength. Analytical and
numerical results will be compared with relevant literature and standards to
assess reliability and applicability.
The originality lies in integrating mechanical locking and hydraulic actuation into a unified hybrid safety approach. The study is expected to establish a validated design framework for enhancing portal crane safety under wind conditions and provide a technical basis for prototype development and industrial applications.
