Özet

The apparel industry currently operates through both in-store and e-commerce channels, each facing distinct challenges that negatively impact profitability, customer satisfaction, and environmental sustainability. Virtual Try-On (VTON) offers a potential solution to these issues; however, widespread adoption remains limited due to high computational costs, an overemphasis on style, and a lack of physical sizing. This study examines the industry-specific challenges and the technical barriers that prevent VTON integration. Based on the findings, we propose a novel retail approach for clothing, centered on a practical SMPL-based VTON (S-VTON) model that utilizes personalized digital mannequins. The proposed system utilizes artificial intelligence for mannequin generation, integrates universal sizing standards, reduces computational demands by prioritizing fit visualization over hyper-realism, and includes an AI-based return verification mechanism to address fraud and minimize return rates. The core pillars of the proposed system, 3D mannequin generation, body optimization, and VTON functionality, have been successfully implemented. Remaining components are reserved for future research. Transitioning to a standardized, fit-focused VTON system can significantly reduce environmental waste and increase the economic viability of the fashion industry.
