Abstract

Logistic adventages of closeness to raw materials and markets of the Aliaga Organized Industrial Zone which is the biggest zone of organized industry in Turkey; instigated the idea of planning of the Guzelhisar River as an inland waterway which would connect the region to the Aegian Sea. In this study; the design of an inland waterway, its analysis in view of suitability of the existing Guzelhisar River, for the purpose of access from the sea to the Aliaga Organized Industrial Zone is proposed. The technical design of the considered passageway of the Guzelhisar River was investigated regarding waterway class properties in international standards, channel cross section was designed in view of the selected vessel sizes. Related engineering structures and desing of the waterway in complience with terms of transportation engineering is proposed.
