Development of economical methods for control of ovulation can greatly benefit on reproductive management in mares. A single timed insemination during estrus might result in a high pregnancy rate owing to the fact that the administration of sufficient dose of hCG in mare causes ovulation within 48 hr after treatment (Briant et al., 2004). The objective of this study was to determine the effect of administration of 3000 or 4500 IU hCG on induction of ovulation and estrus duration in mares which have a mature follicle in their ovaries in breeding season.
