The aim of this study was to determine the prognostic value of caveolin-1 in Wilms tumor. Material and Methods: Immunhistochemical caveolin-1 expression was studied in a total of 50 formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded Wilms tumor specimens and its association with different clinicopathologic parameters was evaluated. Results: Caveolin-1 expression was positive in 24 tumors (48%), while was absent in 26 tumors (52%). Using Mann Whitney U Analysis, Caveolin-1 expression was found to be associated with the weight of the kidney (p=0.013). In addition; there was statistical significance with Caveolin-1 expression and therapy response (p=0.049). But there were no statistical relationships between with Caveolin-1 and some clinical prognosis factors such as stage (p=0.093) and survive (p=0.256). Conclusion: In the present study, it was shown that the presence of caveolin-1 expression in Wilms tumor associated with both tumor size and therapy response. These findings were thought that Caveolin-1 expression may play a role in Wilms tumor evolution.
