Life expectancy over the world is getting longer, and the ratio of the elderly population to the world population is increasing day by day. Successful aging has started to gain more place in national health policies. In addition to successful aging steps from the first decades of life, chronic disease management also must be a fundamental goal. The increase in the number of drugs initiated for different purposes, such as slowing the disease progression, symptomatic treatment, and preventive interventions, can often result in polypharmacy, which is also accepted as a geriatric syndrome. The rational use of drugs will be a valuable and useful approach to the concept of successful aging. In this article, the principles of rational drug use in the elderly, and some tools and applications that can be used in this process are discussed.
