This research focuses on longitudinal control methods implemented in
Cruise Control (CC) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) systems, as well as the
mechanism for switching between these two modes. Two primary longitudinal
control methods are examined: Constant Space Headway Control, which maintains a
constant distance between vehicles, and Constant Time Headway Control, which
maintains a constant time gap between vehicles.
The noteworthy feature of this research focuses on incorporating a
switching mechanism between Cruise Control and Adaptive Cruise Control through
the utilization of the virtual target method.
