Özet

The increased demand for fast application development has led to the emergence of low-code development platforms (LCDP) where most of the coding is replaced by visual programming and ready-made building blocks. In this paper, we conduct a review of prominent LCDPs like OutSystems, Appian, Mendix, and Oracle Application Express (APEX). Then, we introduce a prototype of a multi-tenant trouble ticket system built using Oracle APEX, which was selected as the development environment. Its main functional parts include: a two-state life cycle of tickets dividing the states for customers into simple ones and complex ones; a rule and scoring based engine that decides on agent's product expertise, category expertise and workload using a certain algorithm with weights; an SLA deadline calculation based on the service level of each company; a wallet economy with point usage for ticket creation and knowledge base accessing and point return in case of refunds; role-based access control; and administrator's dashboard for operation monitoring and finances. It can be seen that Oracle APEX is an appropriate tool for building enterprise applications based on relational database management systems. The results of the development process show that low-code application development reduces but does not fully exclude procedural code since interfaces and reports were created declaratively using APEX whereas Procedural Language/Structured Query Language (PL/SQL) was used only for solving complex problems such as business workflow, state transitions, and financial operations.
