The rules governing the EU's institutional structure are provided in the Treaties. The EU institutions are the European Parliament, the European Council, the Council, the Commission, the Court of Justice of the European Union (M), the European Central Bank and the Court of Auditors. The exercise of notably decision-making and executive powers by the Parliament, the Council the Commission as to their function assumes particular importance in the functioning of the EU. ECJ has developed a number of fundamental principles via jurisdictions to resolve conflicts chiefly regarding the functioning of institutions. These can be listed as the principle of institutional balance, the principle of autonomy, the principle of loyal cooperation.
