The high energy and natural gas costs in our country, which is dependent on external resources regarding oil and natural gas resources, have a negative impact on industrial investments. In the context of the evaluation of our domestic resources, it is necessary to use domestic iron ores and coals such as energy or reducing gas in the iron and steel industry with optimal evaluations. In recent years, the problems caused by impurities in scrap steel, the difficulties in scrap procurement and the high production costs from scrap is making more attractive for the use of sponge iron in the iron and steel sector. For this reason, the production of sponge iron in which iron ore resources can be used is of great importance for our country. Evaluation lignite coal for energy or raw material consumption for as a reducing gas with the use of iron ore Turkey is emerging as an alternative solution. The use of the synthesis gas produced in coal, especially in the production of sponge iron, is an important technological innovation as a solution to the reduction gas requirement for the iron and steel industry. The synthesis gas which can be used as reducing gas in DRI (Direct Reduced Iron), Midrex processes also provides a significant economic advantage in the use of the sponge iron product as a raw material in the production of steel in electric arc furnaces. In this study, production of sponge iron in the DRI Turkey availability of coal furnace was investigated. The suitability of technological developments to the availability of our raw materials has been questioned and also the parameter changes in these technologies have been questioned. Coal gasification processes and technological parameters were evaluated in the production of sponge iron. Turkey in particular, some synthesis gas is suitable for efficient production of brown coal properties and DRI can be used as reducing gas is provided in the Midrex process in this study.
