Reducing the vibrations of flexible structures is important for the precision of the work done.
Reducing the vibrations of flexible structures such as cranes, loaders used in storage systems,
the last axis extension in cartesian robots, reduces the duration of the work and increases its
sensitivity. The choice of speed profile to be used is very important to reduce vibrations,
especially during high speed movements. In this study, the effect of trapezoidal velocity motion profile time parameters associated with the natural period of flexible structures on the
endpoint vibrations of a flexible beam was investigated. The acceleration and deceleration
times of the trapezoidal velocity motion profiles are chosen equally. A finite element model
of a flexible beam moving in a single axis was created and both transient and residual
vibration results under the given velocity profile were obtained using ANSYS program. The
effects of trapezoidal velocity profile time parameters on endpoint vibrations are illustrated by
acceleration and amplitudes.
