Abstract

In this paper we analyze the enhancement to the direction of arrival estimation by using the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm, the stationary wavelet transform (SWT) and different wavelet functions. The MUSIC algorithm is a basic method for the direction of arrival (DOA) estimation. The resolution of the MUSIC algorithm for the uniform linear arrays decreases as impinging signals get closer to the broadside direction, due to the array steering vector. The enhancement is analyzed by comparing the DOA estimation performances of the SWT applied received signal vector and the raw received signal vector. The SWT procedure is accomplished by applying the 'haar' and the 'reverse biorthogonal' wavelets and the same performance criteria is also considered.
