This study examines how businesses in maritime transport are responding by focusing on the environmental dimension of sustainability. Maritime transport was selected for its critical role in international trade and accessibility. The study aims to evaluate the impact of sustainability measures in maritime transport on logistics costs using empirical data. This assessment includes steps such as examining the effects of the environmental dimension of sustainability on the maritime transport sector, classifying existing costs, determining sustainability activities, and measuring the impact of these activities on logistics costs. In this study, the case study methodology was used. The data and the sustainability reports of the enterprises engaged in maritime transportation were examined, and Shipping Line X, whose analyses were non-transparent, was selected and interviewed. The findings show that with the increase in environmental awareness, sustainable strategies are seen as long-term investments made to benefit maritime transportation lines when examined in terms of costs. As a result, this study examines the impact of sustainability practices in maritime transportation on the costs of enterprises. While offering a unique perspective on the sector, it states that maritime transportation enterprises are directed to adopt environmentalist strategies. While the pressure to be sustainable in the maritime transport sector leaves a dilemma between the use of low-cost and environmentally harmful fuels and sustainability regulations, it explains the real impact of sustainability measures on maritime transport logistics costs by analyzing the studies in the sector.
