Diğer Ülkelerden Üniversiteler Tarafından Desteklenmiş Proje, 2025 - 2026
This project builds upon the successful DIVE (Diversity and Inclusion for Vanderbilt English language teachers) initiative, a researcher-practitioner partnership begun by our research teams at Vanderbilt and Dokuz Eylul University (DEU) (Izmir, Türkiye) in 2022 with U.S. State Department Funding. We propose to expand this existing partnership into a regional research and pedagogical network across the MENASS region. We will seek to establish a tripartite partnership between pre-service teachers, in-service teachers, and teacher educators to explore, document, and co-design responses to multilingual classroom challenges. The project will initiate with a convening in Izmir (Türkiye) and continue with a hybrid international seminar series and resource development. Outcomes include collaborative publications, open-access teaching materials, and a strategic roadmap for long-term, externally funded partnerships.
This project directly aligns with Vanderbilt’s mission to cultivate global collaborations and extend its educational and research impact internationally. By building a sustainable partnership with Dokuz Eylul University (DEU) in Türkiye and establishing connections with other MENASS region institutions in Türkiye, the project deepens Vanderbilt’s engagement with global education priorities. In particular, through an intentional structure of collaboration involving U.S. and Turkish pre-service teachers, in-service educators, and university faculty, the project addresses urgent issues in refugee education and multilingual pedagogy. This initiative will enable Vanderbilt’s Peabody College and the Department of Teaching and Learning to serve as a major collaborator in the English language teaching space in the Turkish context.
