In this study, towing tank experiments have been carried out for an active container ship with
different trim and drafts. The results of the experiment have been interpreted together with the
results of the Holtrop method used in Maxsurf and Orca programs in order to find the
reactions against trim changes. As a result of the study, it has been observed that the towing
tank experiment findings are different from the other relevant findings. On the other hand, it
has been confirmed that the ship shows different resistance characteristics under different trim
conditions. In addition, it has been found that the total resistance change could be 25% higher
than the minimum value due to the trim change.
