Özet:
Under the coordination of Working Group 5 of the COST Action CA20107 'Combining Theory and Practice on Migration and Religious Diversity' (COREnet) supported by the European Union and in partnership with Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Economics, Department of Political Science and International Relations and the Jean Monnet Module named EUPOLY-MIG with project number 101175576, a one-day workshop entitled 'Different Voices: Stakeholder Assessments on the Dynamics of Migration" was held on Friday 21 February 2025 between 09.00-16.15 in the VIP Hall of the Rectorate.
The main objective of the workshop, which is planned to take place within the framework of the dissemination activities of the COREnet project, is to make the reality of migration in Turkey visible, to raise awareness in society about the impact of migration, and to encourage the search for common solutions to existing problems while highlighting new opportunities arising from migration.
The workshop will bring together academics, NGO representatives and local government officials from Izmir, other cities in Turkey and Europe working on migration, refugees and religious diversity. The workshop will discuss migration in the context of cultural and religious diversity, which is one of the challenges that modern societies have to face in the best possible way, with a special focus on the city of Izmir. The main issues to be addressed by the stakeholders are listed below:
- Coastguard activities in Turkey
- The role of social actors
- Legal and judicial aspects of migration
- Experience of assistance and removal centres
- Activities for the integration of unaccompanied minors
- Social, economic and cultural effects of migration in Turkey
- Migration movements from the perspective of religious diversity and education
