In the scope of the present work selected soil bacteria, namely Pseudomonas fluorescens, Nitrosomonas sp., and Nitrobacter sp. were grown as pure cultures, and the toxicity of some heavy metal ions towards these bacteria was assessed using the resazurin test. Toxicity curves showing percent inhibition of bacteria versus heavy metal concentration were obtained, and the IC50 values, the concentration of heavy metals causing fifty percent inhibition, were determined from these curves.
