Lect. İLKER AKIŞ

İlker Akış was born in 1980 in İzmir, Turkey. He began his musical education in 1994 at the State Conservatory of Dokuz Eylül University, where he was accepted into the double bass department under the tutelage of Lecturer Saim Akış. After graduating in 2001, he successfully passed the audition for the Dokuz Eylül University Symphony Orchestra (DESO) and began his career as an orchestral musician. In 2009, DESO was restructured as the Dokuz Eylül University Center for Symphonic Music Practice and Research (DESOMER), where he continued his professional activities.

Pursuing both artistic and academic excellence, he completed his master's degree in June 2019 under the supervision of Prof. Tahir Sümer. In July of the same year, he was appointed as a lecturer in the double bass department at the State Conservatory of Dokuz Eylül University.In 2021, he commenced his proficiency in art studies under Prof. Esra Gül, and he continues his academic research.

As an orchestral musician, he has been performing as a guest double bassist with the İzmir State Opera and Ballet and the İzmir State Symphony Orchestra since the 2000-2001 concert season. Since 2014, he has also collaborated with the Yaşar University Chamber Orchestra, the Olten Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Symphony Orchestra.
